Sticki is about the prevalence of coloured stickers during the pandemic, aiding our entry, exit and our return to a new normalcy. The sticker has become our certification to enter spaces in Singapore. The act of labeling with quotidian office stickers is emblematic to the management of the virus in Singapore; where the general population is reduced and categorised by statistics, numbers and colours. Stickers frequently display temperatures and dates and the occasional assurance of āIām Okay!ā.In the efficacious processing of both the virus and our population, Sticki documents the stopgap in this transitional phase of the pandemic.
Sticki was commissioned by National Gallery Singapore for Light to Night Festival, 2021, and it went on public train lines from 18 Jan to 14 Feb 2021. Sticki is a collaboration with Adar Ng, and comprises of both the vinyl print on the train and an augmented reality (AR) filter.
